The Forbes Comprehensive Land Use Strategy Issues Paper has been prepared as a prelude to the revision of the 'Forbes Local Environmental Plan, 1986' for the entire Forbes Shire. It will provide the necessary information base for the revision of development strategies for all major land uses throughout the Forbes Shire and will inform the preparation of the Forbes Shire Strategy.
The Forbes Shire Strategy will detail development strategies and provide the strategic planing framework underpinning a Local Environmental Plan for the Forbes Shire in line with the State Government's Planning Reform Program.
Council has obtained funding to assist with the preparation of development strategies and LEP review offered under the State Government's planning reform fund.
This has enabled Council to engage the serivces of Edge Land Planning to provide specialist rural planning advice to broaden the scope of community consultation and increase the quality of mapping for the Forbes Shire strategy.
The Comprehensive Landuse Strategy Issues Paper was adopted by Council on 16 March 2006, enabling Council to proceed with the preparation of the Forbes Landuse Strategy prior to a revision of the Forbes LEP.
