Tai Chi back in 2009Last modified: July 10, 2009 - 12:42 AM
Following a successful trial late last year, the community is being offered the opportunity to continue learning and practicing Tai Chi in 2009. A ten week course is being offered at the Forbes Town Hall with new students welcome to attend the first class to see if they’d like to learn this powerful ancient Chinese art form which consists of slow flowing movements to exercise and relax your mind, body and spirit in harmony. Qualified instructor Cheryl Shirvington said “Tai Chi has been practiced for health and fitness purposes for 500 years, and it is great because anyone regardless of age or fitness level can practice and benefit from Tai Chi. Mrs Shirvington will lead students in a ten week course starting on Wednesday 11 February at 6pm, with one hour sessions continuing weekly. Participants will be led through a series of slow and tranquil exercises, with the benefits of Tai Chi including improved mobility, suppleness and mental alertness. Mrs Shirvington said “we are holding these classes to offer anyone who has started to learn Tai Chi the opportunity to continue their studies and inviting any interested members of the community to come and try Tai Chi for the first time. To register to participate please contact Forbes Shire Council on 6850 2300. Registration closes on Monday February 9. The course is suitable for adults only and a $50 fee applies for the course, $40 for pensioners or unemployed. Payment can be made on registration or at the first class on February 11. Participants will simply need to wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Contact details |
