Named Australia's tidiest town in 1993, being the first town in NSW to receive such an honour, Forbes Shire Council has always shown a commitment to preserving our diverse natural resources. Numerous committees and projects have been developed to ensure a sustainable environment within the shire for years to come. The Environmental Services Department of Forbes Shire Council also controls all Planning and Development within the Shire. It covers many functions relating to ensuring the Shire is kept in a safe and healthy environment. The Department is staffed by 8 officers
